Hemraj Chaudhary Elected New HPCBMA President, Vows to Address Industry Challenges….
Chandigarh/ Shimla, September 13, 2026: Hemraj Chaudhary has been elected the new President of the Himachal Pradesh Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association (HPCBMA) at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held at a hotel here. Taking charge, Chaudhary pledged to give a new direction to the corrugated box industry in the state and strongly take up industry-related issues with the government.
A new executive committee of HPCBMA was also constituted during the meeting. Hemraj Chaudhary was elected President, Hemraj Sharma as Vice President-I, Rajat Gulati as General Secretary and Sanjeev Jain as Finance Secretary.
Outlining his priorities for the tenure, newly elected President Hemraj Chaudhary said the Association would place special emphasis on cost, quality, data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Skill development and technical training programmes would also be organised for members to help Himachal Pradesh’s corrugated box industry adopt modern technologies and remain competitive.
“Our objective is not merely to highlight the problems faced by the industry, but to work together toward finding solutions. Our unity is our greatest strength,” he said.
Chaudhary appealed to all members to actively contribute towards strengthening the Association, adding that unity, transparency, dialogue and results would be the key pillars of his tenure.
He said the industry is currently facing several major challenges, including rising kraft paper prices, GST disparities, pressure on working capital, increasing production costs and payment cycles. He said HPCBMA would not only raise these issues but would also approach the government with concrete data and practical suggestions to seek effective solutions.
Former President Surendra Jain said that while paper mills increase prices within 15 days, small units take two to three months to secure corresponding price revisions from multinational companies (MNCs). He said an industry operating on margins of just 3 to 4 per cent is now facing losses of 14 to 16 per cent.
Jain urged the Central Government, the Ministry of Commerce and the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to take immediate cognisance of the matter. He warned that if the price increases are not checked, the survival of the country’s MSME carton industry could come under serious threat.
Rajendra Bhati, President of the Federation of Corrugated Box Manufacturers of India (FCBM), attended the meeting as the Chief Guest. Prof. Bindu Sharma, K.P. Singh, Haryana President Sunny Jain, Punjab President Kuldeep Makkar, Kanwardeep Sharma and Bijender Kaushik were present as special guests.
Congratulating Hemraj Chaudhary on assuming the new responsibility, Bhati said Chaudhary’s experience and active role in Himachal Pradesh’s corrugated packaging industry would certainly prove beneficial to the sector.
He expressed confidence that under Chaudhary’s leadership, HPCBMA would effectively raise the concerns of the industry and, in coordination with FCBM, make a significant contribution towards the growth and development of the corrugated industry.
